We were asked by a Coach after the Coaches Meeting, if we could add a Forum where everyone could discuss the path, details and experiences of attending a National/Worlds event at the end of the season. We've got the good fortune of having several Nationals/Worlds in or close to Colorado in 2008, so there's no better time than now to start the planning and get the team ready to take on some new competition from around the country. It's generally a great experience for the girls and an even better way for them to get recognized for their great play during the season.

If you've been to a National/Regional/Worlds Tourney and want to share your experience, or if you haven't been and want to know what to expect or how to get there, ask your questions or post your insights here. This forum is now open for business.

Good luck to all of our Colorado teams in 2008.

TRIPLE CROWN SPORTS WORLD SERIES

This National event is held in Park City, Utah (GREAT DESTINATION), site of the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Park City is a drivable destination (500 miles / 8-9 hours) that has an Estes Park feel to it.  This small community set in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah offers GREAT lodging and great restaurants.  The weather is great.  Typically the temperature is in the high 80s to low 90s, but it can get hotter.  LOW humidity.  Cool nights.  The surrounding Summit County offers horse back riding and river rafting.  Salt Lake is just a short 1/2 hour drive away.

Last year the event drew 350 teams over the three week period.  Teams from TWENTY states and CANDA attended.  235 teams participated in the Skills contests and 700 girls participated in the All Star games.  We are anticipating 400 teams in 2008.

The 16UA and 18UA Championship games will be taped for cable TV on FRIDAY night (July 25).  Last year these events were syndicated to over 40 million viewers across the USA.

The 18UA All Star games will also be held on Friday evening.  These teams will be coached by college coaches contracted by Triple Crown.

NEW THIS YEAR - we are planning a Main Street Parade for opening ceremonies.  Teams will parade through the main shopping / restaurant district of Park City on Monday evening.  Families and friends will line the streets and see every team in the event.  A VIP panel will select teams for special awards during the parade.

To qualify for the Triple Crown World Series, you must participate in TCS tournaments in Colorado.  Qualification is based on final finish and participation.  The TCS Colorado series can viewed at  - http://www.triplecrownsports.com/search_results.asp?eventtype=tourny&sportid=3&stateid=6&submitForm.x=57&submitForm.y=20

We went to Park City last year, competed in the 10U and had a great time. There were only two things that were a little disappointing.
#1 10U played a lot of games outside of Park City in a small town about 45 minutes away. Fields were nice but fans had to sit on crushed asphalt and it was very hot. Not very many amenities near the fields i.e. restaurants, grocery store and hotel was a long way away if you forgot something.
#2 Opening ceremonies was disappointing. Glad to hear there will be a parade this year. No parade last year and not good recognition of the teams.

Other than those two things we loved Park City.

My team and I attended the USSSA Midwest Championships 14UC in St Louis MO. Last summer.  It was a great time.  The girls got to participate in an opening ceremony and several fun skill challenges on the first day.  We also got to test our skills against teams from other states.  We hope to go back this year.  However we are still looking for two girls to fill the team. If interested call Tim at 719-468-1548.  Or come and visit us at HitStreak.  HitStreak.com

The Angels played Park City in 2008 at the 10u level. It was a great experience for young players. All games played in Park City. The venues were clean were maintained very well. The event was well run.  Only one complaint. We played too many Colorado Teams upfront.
