The Colorado Heat 12u is looking for two players to top off our roster for the up coming season. We would like a pitcher, and a utility player. Practice during the winter months will be held at Highline Elementary School in Aurora. Once the weather clears back up we will be practicing at Village Greens Park, next to Cherry Creek H.S. on Union st.

USSSA Purchases National Pro Fastpitch Franchise

NASHVILLE -- The National Pro Fastpitch League announced today that the worlds largest amateur sports association has finalized their purchase of an NPF franchise. The USSSA Florida Pride will be at home at the association headquarters in Kissimmee, Fla.

During the 2009 NPF Season, the USSSA managed the team entity known as the Pride, but yesterday finalized their commitment to the womens professional fastpitch softball by inking the deal. USSSA became involved shortly before the NPF season last year and saw their Pride Team go all the way to the finals of the Championship Series, finishing second to the Rockford Thunder.

The involvement on the ownership level of the USSSA is a game-changer for womens professional fastpitch softball, commented NPF Commissioner, Cheri Kempf. For an organization of this size and influence to join the National Pro Fastpitch team is a great day for the future of this game at the professional level.

The USSSA Pride had a star studded line-up last season that included former Olympians Kelly Kretschman, Caitlin Lowe and Monica Abbott. Kretschman and Abbott both cut their teeth on highly competitive SEC softball, while Lowe was twice an NCAA National Champion at the University of Arizona.

The USSSA has taken a very important step in the transition from being involved with the NPF and the USSSA Pride as a managing partner to actually owning and operating the team. We were very fortunate to have had the opportunity of managing and running the franchise prior to making the decision to permanently acquire it, stated Don DeDonatis, Chairman/CEO of the USSSA. Clearly, I was very impressed with the league and the foundation on which it is built, along with the talented group of players that are playing in the NPF as a whole. Top to bottom it is showcases the best talent in the world, continued DeDonatis. The NPF & USSSA are both striving to expand and grow the interest in fastpitch softball. We are very excited and are looking forward to the 2010 season.

The 2010 NPF Season runs from June 3rd through August 29th. The Season will culminate in the 2010 with its hallmark Championship Series event hosted in Sulphur, La August 26th-29th.

USSSA is headquartered in Kissimmee, Fla. Offering over 13 primary sports programs, including baseball, slow pitch and fastpitch softball and basketball, USSSA has over 3.7 million participants nationwide.

National Pro Fastpitch is headquartered in Nashville, Tenn. The League, created to give elite female fastpitch players the opportunity to pursue a professional career in their chosen sport, has operated since 1997 under the names of Womens Pro Fastpitch (WPF) and Womens Pro Softball League (WPSL).

The primary mission of the Winter Workouts is to provide players with a venue where he or she can focus on the basic fundamentals of baseball and softball. From fielding a ground ball, to catching a line drive, to making a solid throw,Winter Workouts will keep your players skill set at a level in which they can showcase their talents when the time comes.

With the winter weather in Colorado, many players havent picked up a baseball or softball since the previous fall season, preventing them from showing their real abilities.

This is your chance to keep your players skills and abilities proficient. Dont miss out!

Rocky Mountain Batting Cages is teaming up with Prime Time Hitting to present winter workouts for interested players who would like to maintain their skills throughout the

winter and help prepare for spring.

The sessions will be one hour in length and will consist of

fundamental practices; focusing on fielding, throwing and catching.

There will be two sessions per week. Class size will be limited to 10-12 players ages 9 - 14.

Most Saturdays 10 - 11AM & Sundays 12 - 1PM

Is there anyone out there that has a pair of "gently used" catcher's shin gaurds they would like to sell? I'm pretty sure we need around a 16, no larger. My daughter is 11 and she's about 5'2 ish. Please contact me if you do.

This Saturday November 21st from 12:30-4:30 (after the coaches meeting).

In the past, this clinic has gotten rave reviews! Plus we are offering discounts when you bring multiple coaches/parents/helpers from your staff/program. The cost of the clinic is $40, but when you bring 4 or more people you get $10 off each registration. The worst things on softball

I was reading another discussion forum in which Coach Marc started the discussion thread below about the worst things in fastpitch softball. These are some of the items that started the list. Let's see what our Colorado softball community thinks. It's the off season, we are snowed in, it's better than playing Yatzee.

A List of the Worst Things in Softball

I scratch my head too sometimes!

If you're like me, you've seen all kind of stuff around the softball field over the years.

Softball is a very conservative sport with many urban beliefs and where old habits die hard.

Sometimes, we even see stuff that is plain crazy or advice that would make Mike Candrea wanna coach soccer!

Help me make a list of such things, beliefs, and old-school practices that are now a thing of the past.

Post yours in the comments section below.

Here's a couple to get us started:

1. The "elbow up" advice for hitters < probably THE biggest urban belief!

2. Running a "9-fielders-waiting-while-1-batter-is-hitting" practice

3. Doing static stretching to warm-up before games

4. Swinging a heavy bat in the on-deck circle

5. "Squish the bug" hitting technique

What else do you have?

2010 Coaches Mtg at Metro State

This years Colorado Coaches Meeting will be held on Saturday, November 21st at the Tivoli Student Union on the Metro State University Campus.

It will be held in Room 320 (Baerresen Room). The meeting will kick off at 9:00 AM and run until 12:30 +/-.

Please arrive at 8:30 AM to pick up your materials, spend extra time with ASA, Triple Crown and USSSA along with the various Vendors.

Refreshments and light breakfast fare will be served.

For Parking, you gain access to the Tivoli Lot by using Ninth Street off of Auraria Parkway directly across from the Pepsi Center.

There is a Fee for Parking.

We will see you all there.

Hey girls. The 2010 NC Clash is still looking to fill some spots on the team. We would love to have everyone, no matter what their position come try out. But we really need a pitcher, a 1st baseman, several outfielders, and a couple utility players. If interested at all please do not hesitate to call, text, or email.
